“Last evening (Sun. Jun 29), a small white dog was attacked by a pit bull in our park.” Can you help?

From Cape Story Neighborhood Watch:

Last evening (Sun. Jun 29), a small white dog was attacked by a pit bull in our park. The caretaker was also injured when trying to break up the attack. The dog and woman where both taken to the hospital. The pit bull was the one who had been reported missing earlier. Many people are concerned about how the woman and dog are but no one that I have talked to know who they are. If anyone can provide an update, it would be appreciated by all. The pit bull was taken by Animal Control to be put down. Thank you.

  2. My dog and I were both attacked by a pit bull . The dog came in my yard. The city let the dog be on quarantine on a tether in their yard next door and it was horrible. It was always on a chain anyways so the just let it stay. I guess the kennels were crowded. I had to listen to the dog bark for 10 days, not knowing if the dog had rabies. Or me? Does it not seem a little odd to have a dog outside on a tether while it is quarantined? The city was not helpful at all as there is a two bite rule in Virginia so the dog would have to maim or bite again , within 12 months. I went to the Attorney General (Bob McDonald) while I was there on realtor on the hill and I asked him why we don’t use the dangerous dog web site on VA.gov . He did not even know about it. It is not utilized. There were about 4 dogs on it from VB. Someone grass roots must have started it because their dog or child was killed but how do you get anyone to register their dog dangerous or vicious? People hardly even get licenses or shots . So, that just sits there. As a citizen and as a realtor, I want to know where these dangerous dogs live. Just like we have Meagan’s law for sexual predators, I want to know where these dangerous dogs live before I move a family with children into a neighborhood. The question is how?
The dogs next door to me finally died, His name was “Felony”, you get the picture. As far as these friendly family dogs go (this one next door was trained to be mean) …a story from Georgia, a friends sisters child, comes to mind where the family friendly dog was in the yard with the child. The child and dog have been together since he was a puppy. Child who was seven, fell off of the trampoline and the sound the child made in concert with the contouring of the child on the ground was unfamiliar with the dog and it attacked and killed the child. It is because it is instinct. Period. I spoke to a code enforcer in Norfolk and he said they still have a lot of dogs fights. It is a problem and I feel so sad for the innocent people and dogs who are hurt because people don’t control their dogs, but also, why would anyone take a risk with a child around. If that bite to my leg was a child’s face this would be a much different post.

“This is a update on the attack on the dog and its owner from the pit bull in the park on Sunday afternoon. As of now the injured dog is alive and resting comfortably at home. No other information is available at this time.”
